Client stories
What finance leads say after we tested cut-off, licences, and multi-element deals — including the friction, not only the praise.
Voices from recent engagements
“They flagged a licence renewal pattern we had been recognising upfront. Correcting it before year-end saved us a painful exchange with the statutory team — though the first draft of their memo was denser than we’d hoped.”
— Mei Ling Chow, Group Financial Controller, logistics group
“We brought Appsync Data in for a contract portfolio review ahead of a bond issuance. They walked our sales ops through why two ‘simple’ bundled deals needed allocation. The board pack finally had a sentence we could stand behind.”
— David Ng, CFO, B2B software distributor
“Pre-audit readiness felt unglamorous until the auditors asked for cut-off evidence on day one and we handed them a schedule instead of scrambling. I would still want clearer ownership labels inside the working-paper index next time.”
— Priya Sethi, Finance Manager, regional trading company
Extended story: Milestone revenue on a Hong Kong project
A construction-adjacent services company asked us to verify revenue for a March year-end. Three large customer projects used milestone invoices that did not always match completed performance. Over four weeks we sampled contracts, compared site completion certificates to billing dates, and identified two projects where recognition ran ahead of evidence by a material amount.
The controller adjusted the period close and invited us to the opening meeting with statutory auditors. The auditors still tested samples independently — as they should — but the conversation started from a shared set of facts rather than a reconstruction exercise. The engagement did not remove judgement from the accounts; it made the judgements visible early.
